best desperate housewives characters
update: hey. i finished the entirety of desperate housewives. it is a show that i definitely do not regret watching. definitely has some moments and aspects that aged poorly, but there's a surprsing amount that still holds up pretty great (See Above). i ended up caring less about julie as i continued watching the show and after finishing i would change my third favorite character to angela from the 6th season. she was my favorite "new housewife on the street" of all the seasons (though i adored vanessa williams as renee, the character herself was um. insanely written at times , but vanessa williams was a joy to watch in every scene, she has great comedic timing and presense. i actually didn't really have her on my radar before watching the show and since all i knew about her was from the "you're wrong about" podcast episodes about her - which are fanatastic by the way- i thought she was just known for being the first Black woman to win Miss America, didn't realize she did iconic acting roles too). there were a lot of amazing actresses on the show (i am totally enamored with marcia cross now of course). i was a little surprised to learn that there was (alledgedly) so much drama on the set between the main girls. it's interesting to remember the show existing at its original time of airing (2004-2012.i saw the set of it at the universial studios studio tour, multiple years in a row during that timeframe) but not being cognizant enough of its cultural relevance to know there was any cast drama so my perspective is just based on how these actresses come a cross playing their characters. i would have never guessed that any of the girls would have ill will or resentment towards teri hatcher.. probably cause susan is so pitiful and sweet and the main girls are all so close, but reading the gossip retrospectively, the media painted her as a self-obsessed "bitch" since the others girls "didn't like her". clearly, to me at least, like most tabloid narratives, the real story is much more nuanced...
